Mike Dirnt (born Michael Ryan Pritchard) is an Amercian bassist for punk rock band Green Day. He was born on May 4 1972 in Rodeo California. As a kid in school he would play "air bass" pretending to plucking the strings and making the sound dirnt dirnt dirnt and that is how he adopted his stage name.
He was adopted as a child by a Native American mother and European father. He had one stepsister named Myla who left home at the sge of 13. After Dirnts 6th birthday his adopted parents divorced. He was left torn between his father and his struggleing mother. His mother later remarried. "when I was in fourth or fifth grade my mom came home with this guy and then he moved in" says Dirnt. When asked about his stepfather he said "We didn't get along for years". Mike later bonded a little better with his stepfather when his mother left home. At age 15 Dirnt left home to live out of his truck. Later on he rented a room in Billie Joe Armstrongs (best friend and soon to be member of Green Day) home. Mike Dirnt ended up graduteing Pinole Valley High School in 1990. Green Day soon went on their first tour after graduation.
Mike Dirnt has a daughter named Estelle-Desiree who was born April of 1997 and a son named Brixton Michael born 11th of October 2008. He has had two marriges one of which ended up in a divorce and the other still standing strong.
