Mia Wasikowska born on October 14, 1989 in Canberra, Australia. Growing up, Mia trained as a ballerina. But after the age of 15 she stopped. She was quoted as saying “The thing I took issue with was having to have the perfect body. There wasn’t any room for fault or imperfection.” She then turned her sights on acting. She was quoted on saying “Film is a lot more about life, and so it’s all about the things we do that are imperfect. That really interested me more.” She appeared in the Australian soap opera "All-Saints" and the films "Suburban Mayhem" and Rogue. Then she got a role in the television show "In Treatment" which won her critical acclaim. Her character was Sophie, a troubled teenager who is sent to Gabriel Byrne’s psychotherapist following a suspected suicide attempt. She then starred in the movie Defiance, alongside Daniel Craig. This was her first American movie. Her next role was that of Elinor Smith, a young female aviator and rival of Hilary Swank’s Amelia Earhart in "Amelia". Her next role in the movie "That Evening Sun"which has earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Mia will soon be a household name once the Tim Burton movie "Alice in Wonderland" comes out. Mia will play the title character and star alongside an impressive cast that includes Johnny Depp, Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Crispin Glover to name a few. The story is actually more of a sequel where Alice is now 19 and returns to Wonderland only to find that she has to put a stop of the tyrannical rule of the Red Queen. Her other upcoming roles include "The Kids are All Right" and playing the lead title character in "Jane Eyre" which is based off the classic book of the same name.
