The son of professional actors, French film star Maurice Ronet studied at the Paris Conservatoire, where one of his mentors was Jean-Louis Barrault. On the stage from age 20, Ronet made his first film... read more, Rendezvous de Juliet, in 1949. A popular leading man of the 1950s and 1960s, Ronet was a particular favorite of such influential directors as Louis Malle and Claude Chabrol. He turned director himself for two films, Le Voleur de Tibidabo (1964) and Bartleby (1977).
