Katie Cassidy Wiki Profile
| While in elementary school, Cassidy became interested in show business and participated in several community theatre productions beginning at the age of 7, and as a teenager studied with an acting coach. She did some modeling which culminated in a campaign ad for Abercrombie and Fitch in 2004. in 2004, she also appeared in Eminem's music video for "Just Lose It". Her mother would not allow her to act professionally until completing her high school education with college prep courses. Cassidy was "discovered" at Rite Aid in Calabasas, CA, where she caught the eye of record producer Joel Diamond, who went on to produce her remake of her father's hit "I Think I Love You." Diamond helped Cassidy secure a record deal and related publicity and appearances. Katie's father David, rejected the idea and did not support Katie in any of her career efforts. As Katie's career progressed she did not go public about being Cassidy's daughter and it was kept quiet until the media discovered the information much later. It was important to Katie to be successful as an actor, on her own merit. After high school, Cassidy appeared in several television shows, which included a recurring role as Zoe on 7th Heaven. She then guest-starred in the drama Sex, Love & Secrets. She also played a small part in Eminem's music video 'Just Lose It' in 2004. In 2006 she appeared in supporting roles in films such as Click and When A Stranger Calls. She starred as the protagonist, Kelli Presley, in Dimension Films remake of the 1974 film Black Christmas. The film was released throughout late December 2006 worldwide to negative reviews and little success at the box office. In 2007 she appeared in supporting roles in films such as Walk the Talk, You Are Here, & Live! in which she played Jewel Jensen an aspiring actress looking her big break in Hollywood. Also in 2007 she filmed numerous scenes in the film remake Revenge of the Nerds alongside Adam Brody and Jenna Dewan. Production was halted and the movie was eventually cancelled. In 2008 she appeared as Amanda in Taken and had a recurring role on The CW's Supernatural as Ruby. She was supposed to return for the 4th season of the show, but was let go due to budget cuts (announcement regarding budget problems made by shows producer). In 2009 Cassidy appeared as Patricia 'Trish' Wellington in the CBS series Harper's Island.[2] The series enjoyed moderate success with ratings and ended it's run with the originally planned 13 episodes. It was also in this year that Cassidy signed on as a series regular on The CW's reboot Melrose Place of the 1990s successful drama series of the same name. The series premiered September 8, 2009, with 2.27 million viewers. Katie also appeared at the 36th People's Choice Awards on CBS on Jan 6th, 2010 presenting an award along with Twilight star Kellan Lutz, her co-star on the upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.[3] They presented the award for Favorite Country Artist which was won by Carrie Underwood. Katie was recently cast in the upcoming teen adventure movie Monte Carlo. She will be starring alongside Cory Monteith and Selena Gomez [4]
