Celine Dion whose original name is Céline Marie Claudette Dion Angélil, was born on the 30 th day of March of the year 1968. She is a very well known Canadian pop singer and also a songwriter. Celine Dion was born to a very large family reduced to extreme poverty living in Charlemagne, Quebec. Celine Dion had the innate skill of singing and she managed to show herself to the world with the help of her manager and future husband René Angélil who mortgaged his own house, so that her first album could be released, and all the finances could be managed. Celine Dion became increasingly popular with her works and she gained immense popularity in the continents of Europe and also Asia which was after her victory of the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest.
It was in 1990 that Celine Dion made her debut with the English Language in the Anglophone album Unison, which was published by the very famous Epic Records. It was after the release of this debut album that Celine Dion immediately became successful worldwide having a number of English and even some French records, which was all under the guidance of her loving husband. She later on ended the decade with her name being amongst the most famous pop music artists.
In the decade between 1980 and 1990 Celine Dion reached the highest Standards in her career of music and released about a total of twenty-five albums in that time period. There was a major personal disaster in Celine's life at the end of the 90's when in the year 1999 she announced that she was taking a break from her profession because she intended to start a family, and more importantly she had to look after and give more time to her husband who was diagnosed with throat cancer.
She is one of the world's top selling female singers and last year earned more than US$235 million (HK$1.83 billion) from her first world tour in eight years, according to trade publication Pollstar.In 2003 she began a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and grossed more than US$385 million by the time the final show ended in December 2007.

Celine Dion was born to Adhémar Dion and Thérèse Tanguay, and is known to be the youngest of all the fourteen siblings she had. She was raised in the environment of a Roman Catholic family. Her family was living in an extremely poor conditions when she was born, but the good thing about it was that they were still happy with each other. They lived in a house which was in a small town Charlemagne approximately 30 miles northeast of Montreal.
Celine Dion got more and more inclined towards music because of the family's interest and enthusiasm towards it. Celine in fact grew up singing with her siblings and parents in their common town bar called the 'Le Vieux Baril.' It was since then that Celine developed a passion for music and at a very early age she also dreamed to become a performer one day. In the year 1994, Celine stated for a magazine about her childhood, and dream for singing:
When she was eighteen, she was greatly inspired by the famous rock-star Michael Jackson and she decided to be a performer like him one day. Angelil who was her music manager advised her for a physical makeover so as to create an image worldwide. She then withdrew her career to take a break for a physical makeover. She was then sent to the École Berlitz School in the year 1989 where she polished her interviewing and also English language skills.
Celine soon became the most famous singer in the year 1983 in Canada after she won the awards like the record in France for her single "D'Amour Ou d'Amitié" ("Of Love or of Friendship") and also some great awards like the Félix Awards which included the "Best Female performer" and also "Discovery of the year."

Celine Dion, after going through extensive physical makeover and the English language training was back into the professional career immediately after the training period ended. She made her debut into the Anglophone music in 1990 with Unison. She was helped and assisted in the process by many established names in music company such as Vito Luprano and the famous Canadian producer David Foster.
The album was a huge hit and appreciated worldwide, not only did she receive commercial success but also a major critical acclaim. The reason for the success of the album was that it suited to the adult contemporary style and the 1980's soft rock music.
She was appreciated by the Jim Faber of Entertainment Weekly, for staying in her style and not going beyond it trying to act someone else. The All Music Guide member Stephen Erlewine declared it as "a fine, sophisticated American debut" The album included some greatest hit singles of all times such as "(If There Was) Any Other Way," "The Last to Know," "Unison," and "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" the latter became her first single ever to reach the US billboard Hot 100 charts at the number 4 position.
She was then known as the rapidly rising star of all times worldwide in all of the continents of the world, including Asia and Europe.
A major achievement in Celine's career was brought about after her work with Peab o Bryson in which she recorded the title track of the famous Disney's animated movie Beauty and the Beast in the year 1991. The song was a classical type with the sweeping ballad style accompanied by soft instrumentation, which indeed was Celine's niche.
This song brought her the greatest acclaim from all over the world it was the second song to reach the top 10 singles in the US top charts. She won the Academy Award for the Best Song and also the Grammy Award for the Best pop Performance. The most famous song of Celine Dion was thus the title track of "Beauty and the Beast" which was then featured in her album released in the year 1992 which had a rock influence with a classical music style.

In January 2004, Celine Dion received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She dedicated her star to her father, who died the month prior. Other stars who attended the ceremony included talk show host Jay Leno and producer Gil Cates. The dedication was originally scheduled to take place in March 2003, but was postponed due to the Iraq War.
In 2007, Celine Dion was ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 5th richest woman in entertainment with an estimated net worth of US$250 million.[ She also received France's highest award, the Légion d'honneur, in May 2008. In August 2008, she received an honorary doctorate in music from the Université Laval in Quebec City.
On 16 April 2009, it was announced that Celine Dion and other Quebec elites were slated to bid on the purchase of the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens and Montreal's Bell Centre which are both up for purchase. Dion, Karl Peladeau, and Stephen Bronfman have all formed a joint bid to purchase the team and the venue, and to also create a television channel that would air games and other hockey-related programming. |
On February 5, 2006 was unveiled a wax-statue of Celine Dion at the Parisian Grèvin Museum. On May 7, 2006 Celine unveiled her second wax statue on The Colosseum of Las Vegas. The statue wears the dress that Celine Dion wore for the ceremony of the Oscars in 1998 and also a copy of the famous jewel "The Heart Of Ocean" created by the jeweller Asprey for the "Titanic". |

On March 21, 2002, in London, Céline Dion was presented with the most expensive disc ever in recognition of 15 million album and single sales in the UK. The disc is a one-off, designed and manufactured by the Queen's jewelers Asprey & Garrard. Set in solid silver, the disc features a full-length gold silhouette of Céline Dion, sprinkling 15 handcrafted individually cut diamonds across a black acrylic landscape frame - plus a diamond set Céline logo. Each diamond is mounted in a 5-point white-gold star, representing each of Céline's album and single sales in the UK. In total, the piece contains over 2.5 carats of diamonds. The disc was sold by £70.000.
