Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in McComb, Missisippi to parents Lynne and Jamie Spears and was raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. Britney competed in gymnastics until the age of 9. She also attended New York's City Performing Art's School. In 1992, Britney landed a spot on the talent show "Star Search". She won the first round of competition, but ultimately lost.
