After making her stage bow at the age of seven as a skunk in a school production, she decided to audition for the part of Holly Hunter's precocious daughter in Jane Campion's The Piano. One of 5000 applicants, Paquin--whose previous work was limited to TV commercials--won the role, and with both the success of the 1993 film and her Oscar win, entered the realm of international fame. Aside from a series of TV ads for a computer company, Paquin retreated from the limelight until 1996, when she emerged, now a teenager, in the acclaimed family drama Fly Away Home. That same year, she could be seen playing a younger version of the title character in Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of Jane Eyre. After playing Queen Isabella in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997), Paquin assumed her first adult role, portraying a teenage runaway presented as a "care package" to two Hollywood bottom feeders in Hurlyburly (1998). The following year, she stepped back into more wholesome coming-of-age territory, playing Diane Lane's daughter in the critically acclaimed A Walk on the Moon and taking advantage of the current teensploitation wave with a small role in the popular high school comedy She's All That. That same year, she appeared in the star-studded ensemble drama All the Rage, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.By 1999, Paquin was ready to reach a larger audience as an adult actress, and she found the perfect vehicle for this with the role of teenaged mutant Rogue in the movie big-budget comic book adaptation X-Men. She would reprise the role for the movie's sequels in 2003 and 2006, while also making modest, critically acclaimed appearances in movies like 25th Hour and The Squid and the Whale. Then in 2008, Paquin landed the part of telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse in the sexy vampire series True Blood on HBO. Based on a series of mystery novels, fans at first balked at the Kiwi actress's ability to embody the thoroughly Southern character, but Paquin won over old and new fans alike, pushing the series to become a massive success. Additionally, Paquin would find personal fulfillment on the set of True Blood as well, as she and co-star Stephen Moyer would strike up a romance and eventually get married in 2010. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

Anna Paquin nude Mini Bio

Anna Paquin was born July, 24 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Her family moved to New Zealand when she was four years old. It was while living in New Zealand, that she met director Jane Campion when she tagged along to her sisters audition for The Piano.
Although Paquin's only acting experience was playing a skunk in a school play, Campion was so impressed with her audition she won the part. When The Piano was released in 1993 it was lauded by critics, won prizes at a number of film festivals, and eventually became a popular movie among a wide audience. Paquin's debut performance in the film earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of eleven, making her the second-youngest Oscar winner in history after Tatum O'Neill.

In 1996, she appeared in two movies. In Jayne Eyre she played young Jane. She was also the lead in Fly Away Home playing a young girl who, after her mother dies, moves in with her father and finds solace in taking care of orphaned goslings.

Anna followed these roles up with a cameo appearance as the young Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's historical drama "Amistad". In 1998, Paquin traded in her corset for more contemporary lingerie and played a sexy scene stealer in a pivotal supporting role opposite Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey in the Hollywood satire "Hurlyburly". The following year, she donned cut off shorts and a halter top to play Diane Lane and Liev Schreiber's rebellious hippie chick daughter in the 1960s drama "A Walk on the Moon". That same year, she also had a small part in the frothy teen romance "She's All That", playing Freddie Prinze Jr.'s younger sister with a knack with makeup.

Not wanting to be typecast in typical teenage or period roles, Paquin followed with terrific turns as the genetic mutant Rogue in the big-screen version of Marvel Comic's "X-Men" and as a soulful groupie in love with Jason Lee's 1970s rocker in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous" (both 2000). She also held her own with acting heavyweights F. Murray Abraham and Sean Connery in the inspirational drama "Finding Forrester", the story of an unlikely friendship between a reclusive novelist and a gifted scholar-athlete.

In 2002, Paquin was cast in Spike Lee's crime drama feature "The 25th Hour," starring Edward Norton as a man who is forced to reevaluate his life before serving a seven year jail sentence.

Paquin next appeared in a debacle known as “Buffalo Soldiers” (2003), a military satire starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scott Glenn that was held back from release after the events of September 11th. When it finally did see the light of day, “Buffalo Soldiers” died a quick and painless death at the box office. Meanwhile, the actress starred as Regina, an American teenager who moves with her family into an old house in the remote countryside of Spain, in director Jaume Balaguero’s second stab at the horror genre, “Darkness” (2004). Though filmed in 2001, it was released in the United States in December 2004 to poor reviews and mediocre box office.

She next shacked up with her college writing professor (Jeff Daniels) after his separation and eventual divorce in Noal Baumbach’s widely praised and Oscar-nominated “The Squid and the Whale” (2005). Paquin then revived Rogue for the third installment of the series, “X-Men: The Last Stand” (2006), directed by Brett Ratner. She also filmed Margaret but it has yet to be released due to ongoing legal battles.

In 2007, Anna recieved an Emmy Award nomination for her role as Elaine Goodal in the TV miniseries "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee". She also recieved nominations for Golden Globes and The Screen Actor Guild, in the same category. Her film Blue State was released in 2007 and Paquin served as executive-producer on the Romantic Comedy, which was produced by Paquin Films the production company she formed with her brother.

Anna won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama series for her work on the show. She has been dating her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer since filming the series' pilot.

In 2009 Anna played Irena Sendler in The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler, a Polish woman who is hailed as a heroine of the Holocaust. It was filmed in Latvia and screened on CBS as a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation. This earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Film.

So far 2010 has seen her appear in The Romantics alongside Katie Holmes and Josh Duhamel. True Blood also continues to be a fan favorite with new episodes due mid 2010. She also has the upcoming films Open House and Flying into Love.
